He is Able and you, in Him, are Able

How to Put Together a Prayer Pack – Pocket 2

Pocket 2: Vision Statement/Personal Prayer Requests

Vision Statement

The last two years, I have taken a wonderful online class called “Strength and Dignity” by Greater Impact Ministries.  One of the early assignments in that class is creating a vision statement over your life.  This vision statement is something meant to be read each and every day helping you put boundaries in place for yourself of what you are about, which is honoring the Lord.  In Christ, your heart of stone that desires and at times, insists on its own way has been replaced by heart of flesh that is moldable and pliable; a heart that is being made to display Him to a very broken world. My aunt Sue created a vision statement over her life and separated it into three sections which is how I organized mine as well.  In each section, I have given you a sample of what I have written in mine.  My vision statement has outgrown the space in my Prayer Pack, so I have it tucked into my journal.

  1. What I Believe – II Tim. 1:12

But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me.

I believe:

1.  God is who He says He is.

2.  God will do what He says He will do.

3.  I am who God says I am. I am a daughter of the King.

4.  I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

5.  God’s word is living in active in me.

  1. What I Desire – Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

I desire:

1.  To love the Lord, first and foremost, with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.

2.  To love my neighbor as myself.

3.  To love myself better.…not in a self-centered way, but in a God honoring way. In so doing, I will love my husband, children, family, and friends better.

4.  To live my life to the glory of the Lord and to let my light shine before others, primarily my husband and children.

5. To do all things as unto the Lord.

  1. What I am equipped to do – Ephesians 3:16-17

All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

I am equipped:

1. To speak and pray God’s word over myself, husband, and children.

2. To be respectful of myself, husband, and children.

3. To be kind to my husband.

4. To be a teacher of good to my children and others.

5. To be a responsible keeper of my home.

Personal Requests

The second part of this section in your Prayer Pack is a place to put your personal prayer requests.  I love praying scripture over myself and others.  Colossians 1:9-12 are wonderful verses to pray over yourself.

Colossians 1:9-12

I have not ceased to pray asking that I may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him; bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified me to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

As you look at these scriptures, put to paper who God is and who you are in Him.

One attribute that I see is that He is able and in Him you are able. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. Philippians 4:13.

Blessings to you as you pray!

Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
