Philippians 4:5-8 say, “THE LORD IS AT HAND; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

It’s so easy to set our mind on things that are not life giving during a time like this or anytime for that matter.  I find that if I watch the news or check the news on my phone too much throughout the day the more prone I am to setting my mind on the wrong things and with that comes anxiety and fear.  

What do those verses in Philippians tell us?  They say that THE LORD IS AT HAND! Because of this fact, we, in Christ, don’t have to be anxious or fearful. We are to pray with thanksgiving and ask the Lord for His help and set our minds on Him and who He is. He is the One that is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise. With that then, let’s turn our attention to who God is and who we are in Him. 

Who is God? He is OMNIPRESENT.

This means that He IS AT HAND and is present everywhere all the time.  Scripture speaks of this fact over and over.  Here are a few verses that describe this attribute.

“He is before all things and in Him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:17 (HE IS AT HAND)

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” Proverbs 15:3 (HE IS AT HAND)

“For His eyes are on the ways of a man, and He sees all his steps.” Job 34:21 (HE IS AT HAND)

Who are you in Him? You are seen at all times and are held fast. 

This means that you cannot escape His notice and He is holding you securely at all times.  Nothing can snatch you out of His hand. 

Psalm 139:7-10 shows this truth of who you are in Him so beautifully.

“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? If I ascent to heaven, You are there!  If I make my bed in Sheol, You are there!  If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me fast.” 

For those in Christ, you are secure, seen, and held fast.  The LORD IS AT HAND, HE IS OMNIPRESENT!  You are safe in Him.  For those of you that are not believing or are waffling in belief, today is the day!  THE OMNIPRESENT LORD IS AT HAND.  Jesus says to just come as you are and believe confessing that HE is Lord.  Then all the promises of God will be true for you in Christ Jesus and you will be safe in Him as well.

When You Pray….

“When you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”  Matthew 6:6

You are seen when you are praying.  Amazing!!!

1. Praise the Lord that He is near all the time.
2. Pray that you would know who you are in Him.
3. Pray for your spouse and children.
4. It is the 1st Saturday of the month, so pray for your neighbors.
