Red, Orange, and Yellow

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11

Would you join me in praying these things over those that you love?

Since I was little girl, I have loved the colors red, orange, and yellow. Those who know me well know this about me. Last year my childhood friend was on a trip in Iceland and saw houses that were red, orange, and yellow tucked into the midst of many white houses. She sent me a few pictures and said that when she saw those houses she thought of me. Little did she know that I had just begun decorating for fall and had put out my red, orange, and yellow mason jars on my dining room hutch that same day.

My mother always said to watch for how the Lord is in the details of our lives. Just this week, a dear friend from Colorado ordered two hanging plants from a local florist here in Minnesota which were delivered on Tuesday morning. What joy! What a surprise! What an encouragement! All she had told the florist was to pick out something pretty and, lo and behold, they were red, orange, and yellow.

What do the verses from Philippians have to do with red, orange, and yellow? Absolutely nothing :) But, I was listening to one of my favorite pastors unpack these verses and guess what colors he chose to mark up this passage? If you guessed red, orange, and yellow, you were right.

Blessings to you,

Heather Haas
