Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,
To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers and deacons:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:1-2).
To the darling of my heart, It's a beautiful day here. Six little chickadees came to the bird feeder this morning as your grandpa and I were eating breakfast. A little hummingbird came right up to the window and said good morning. Grandpa is down at camp and taking a group on a hike through the woods to have Tea on the Mountain. I am getting ready to have some ladies in for coffee this afternoon. Your mom told me that you are struggling a bit with some boys that are not being kind to you. This makes grandma sad. I bet this is hard but I want to remind you that Jesus is with you. Remember that He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). Grandpa and I can't wait for you and your sister to come a visit us. Love you, Grandma
This was a typical letter from my grandma Jan. With a term of endearment like “darling of my heart, I couldn’t wait to hear what she had to say. In this greeting from Paul and Timothy, the term of endearment used was “saints.” This term implied that the recipients of this letter had placed their faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins; that they were no longer sinners but saved sinners; that they were saints. The term saints means separated from sin and dedicated to the Lord. I can imagine what those in the church in Philippi thought upon hearing this word used to describe them and I bet they were eager to hear what Paul and Timothy had to say to them.

Who in your sphere of influence needs a word of encouragement with a letter?
Blessings to you,
Heather
