Adopted by the Almighty

Story

We have been going through a lot of grief these last months with the loss of my mother-in-law. She passed away in July and I have not written in this space since then. I have felt numb and dry. This, coupled with many other things, has kept me quiet and contemplative. Each of us are grieving in different ways. I have been asking the Lord to restore to me the joy of His salvation. One of the sweet ways He has done that is by keeping me in His word. Another way is by providing a Christmas kitten.

My youngest Gwendolyn has been wanting a kitty. Paul and I told her that this would not be possible. In desperation, Gwendolyn began looking at robotic fake kitties that are to provide comfort to Alzheimer’s patients and said she would be happy with even a kitty like that. Oh dear!!! Knowing that Gwendolyn is missing her Pom-Pom, Paul and I decided to pray about it and the Lord began to change our hearts. I actually prayed that the Lord would provide a Christmas kitten…a free kitten. Lo and behold, last week my daughter Meredith saw a poster at school of a free kitten. We called and the rest is history. We are picking up our Christmas kitten today at 1:30 PM. She will be adopted into our family.

We are thinking of naming her Mabel. What do you think?

Who is God the Son?

Jesus is Almighty! Jesus, our Savior is over all things even the adoption of a little free kitty. He is so good!

Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

  • Jesus is! He is with us all the time!
    • Matthew 28:20 says, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
  • Jesus was! He was in the beginning!
    • John 1:1-3 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
  • Jesus is coming! He will be here soon!
    • John 14:3 says, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”

Who are you in Him?

You are Adopted by the Almighty!

Ephesians 1:3-6 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He (God) chose us in Him (Jesus) before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved.”

Let’s Pray!

  • Today is Thursday, December 2 – If married, pray for your spouse’s family. If not married, pray for your dad’s extended family.
  • Children – If a parent, pray for your children. If not, pray for your nieces and nephews.
  • Spouse – If married, pray for you spouse’s work. If not, pray for your friends’ marriages.
  • Yourself – Praise the Lord that you have been adopted by the Almighty! Pray that the joy of the Lord would be your strength! Pray the Lord would draw close this advent season.

Blessings to you, Heather
