Ruth gleaned wheat the fields of Boaz, who became her redeemer.

You can read the account of Ruth in the book of Ruth. It’s a precious story about Ruth and her devotion to her mother-in-law, Naomi, and a precious love story between Ruth and Boaz, who one day become the great-grandparents of King David. I encourage you to read it today. As you do, look for Christ and look for who you are in Him. Here is what I see:

Who is God in the person of Christ in the account of Ruth? He is the Redeemer.

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,  to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Who are we, in Him? We are Redeemed.

Ephesians 1:7-10 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His purpose, which He set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Biblical Account Points to Jesus as… You, in Him, are…
Creation The Creator A New Creation
Adam & Eve The Sinless Savior A Saved Sinner
Noah The Way of Salvation Saved from Judgement
Abraham The Promised Offspring Heirs of the Promise
Isaac The Lamb of God Ransomed
Jacob The Mediator Recipients of Grace
Joseph The Provider Cared For
Moses The Deliverer Delivered from Sin & Death
Joshua Immanuel; God with Us More than Conquerors
Ruth The Redeemer Redeemed
This is what it means to set your mind on things that are “true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise.”
Philippians 4:8
