Yesterday, I took my girls through the drive through at Panera and asked the gal handing me our order if she knew of a place we could eat outside that was close by. She said that the patio was open. So, my girls and I parked the car and went to sit on the patio. Within a minute, the manager came out and said that we needed to sit at separate tables to maintain social distancing. I said to him, “These are my children.” He apologized and said that if we wanted to eat outside on the patio that we would have to sit at separate tables. No one else was out there, by the way. So, we proceeded to get back in the car which was a few feet away from the patio and eat all crammed together in the car.
Today my husband was flying home from Delaware on a plane where there was not one seat open, literally crammed together like sardines. Then the flight attendant came on periodically reminding everyone that no congregating by the bathrooms would be tolerated in order to maintain social distancing.
My husband also had a layover in North Carolina and literally every line at every fast food restaurant in the airport was 20-30 deep with only inches between each person. Everyone was sitting at tables close together unable to maintain the so called required social distancing. However, they were reminded over the loud speaker every five minutes to social distance, wash hands, and not touch their face.
So basically, it’s OK to cram hundreds of people on an airplane, but it is not OK for me to visit my dad in a long term care facility, or go to church, or sit outside with my children and eat lunch? None of this makes sense. These are just a few examples of the some of the nonsense of the days we are living in.
Fear produces all sorts of foolishness and lack of good sense. In Christ, we have not been given a spirit of fear but of power and love and sound mind. (I Timothy 1:7) We have so much to bring before the Lord, in prayer, during this time. May we, in Him, be wise and filled with good sense and ask the Lord to give wisdom and good sense to even those that don’t know Him.
Matthew 9:36 says, “Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.” That is a description of many in this world today. People are lost and in need of a shepherd. The Bible says that “we all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way. (Isaiah 53:6) However, Jesus says, “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. (John 10:11) Jesus goes on to say, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand.My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.I and the Father are one.” If you know Jesus as Savior, then you have been found by Him and are safe. If you do not know Him, then you are a lost sheep in need of Him and His safety. Can you hear Him calling?
Proverbs 16:22
Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it, but the instruction of fools is folly.
Proverbs 3:13
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Proverbs 19:8
Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will discover good.
James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
Blessings to you,
Heather
