Recap on How to Put Together a Prayer Pack
Today, I want to start by reviewing the five reasons we pray:
1. We pray because it is the way we communicate with God.
He is Near and you, in Him, are Heard
2. We pray because Jesus He expects us to pray.
God is Omniscient and you, in Him, are Known
3. We pray because God grants us the power to pray through the Spirit.
God is Our Helper and you, in Him, are Helped
4. We pray because it helps us not be anxious about anything.
He is Peace and you, in Him, are at Peace
5. We pray because it is one way to be a doer of the word.
He is the Rock and you, in Him, are Standing
There is one more reason to pray, but first I must ask a question. What are your daily disciplines or daily customs? What do you do every day? Well, one of Jesus’ daily disciplines or customs mentioned throughout the gospels is that He would often go away to a quiet place to pray, so that brings me to another reason to pray.
6. We pray because Jesus prayed. Here are some scriptures that support this:
And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He departed and went out to a desolate place, and there He prayed. Mark 1:35
Jesus would withdraw to desolate places and pray. Luke 5:16
In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night He continued in prayer to God. Luke 6:12
And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, (to pray) and the disciples followed him. Luke 22:39
My prayer is that all of this God uses to encourage you to be faithful in prayer, to be a doer of the Word. If the simple system of making and using a Prayer Pack helps you in that endeavor, then to God be the Glory.
May you “be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12
As I close, I am thinking about the fact that we can go to the Lord at all times in prayer because He is with us. He promises throughout His Word that He will never leave us or forsake us.
Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by his love; He will exult over you with loud singing.”
Matthew 28:20 “Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”
Romans 8:38-39 “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Who is God? He is God with us.
Who are you in Him? You are continually in His presence.
Here are the songs “Our God is With Us” and “I Am Joseph (God with Us)” by Steven Curtis Chapman.
Blessings to you as you pray!!!
