How to Put Together a Prayer Pack

Pocket 11: Sundays – Elected Officials

We live in a divided country and Jesus warned us about this.  He said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand (Mark 3:25).”  So, I encourage you to pray for our divided country and for our divided elected leaders.  1 Tim. 2:1-2 says, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” 

I encourage you to pray for the different levels of government on the four Sundays of the month. This will help you know who is elected by name.  I encourage you read up on who they are and who their families are.  We are subject to those elected. Romans 13:1 says, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” However, there is provision to resist if the government forbids us to speak of what we believe.  So far, in this country, that has not happened.  Acts 4:19-20 says, “ But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”

Since I am from Minnesota, all those that I pray for are based on that.

1st Saturday – Federal Government

County Sheriff – Bob Fletcher
Charter Commission – There are 17 members.

4th Saturday – City Government ( I live in Roseville, MN)
Mayor – Dan Roe
City Counsel Members – Jason Etten, Wayne Groff, Lisa Lalitberte, and Robert Willmus

We have such a privilege to pray for our leaders.  They certainly need it.  May we gather together in prayer ad may God be pleased to give them unity and hearts of wisdom. 

Romans 15:4-7 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

Who is God? He is the God of endurance and encouragement.

Who are you in Him? We are joined together with one voice.
