How to Put Together a Prayer Pack

Pocket 7: Wednesdays – Your Extended Family: Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins & their Families

On Wednesday, I encourage you to pray your extended family. Pray for your grandparents, pray for your aunt & uncles, pray for you cousins & their families.  My mother has four brothers and my dad has two brothers.  He also has two first cousins on his father’s side that he is very close to and that are more like and aunt and uncle to me than a cousins.  Between them all , there are over 100 people which is a lot of people to pray for weekly. So, I have split them by the 4-5 Wednesdays in a month which you can see below.  It’s up to you how you want to split up your extended family.

Praying scripture is a wonderful way to pray God’s will.  The passage below, which I have written before, is a wonderful way to pray over your family who knows the Lord and family that does not.   In addition to praying scripture, I will often reach out to my extended family via text to check in and ask how I could pray for them or what have you.  It has been a precious way to stay connected with my side of the family.

Ephesians 3:14-19

For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Who is God here in this passage? He is God the Father, He is God the Son, He is God the Holy Spirit. He is worthy. He knows your name. He is rich in glory. He grants us strength to believe in the love of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is incomprehensible.

Who are you in Him? You are bowed down. You are known. You are the recipients of the richness of His glory. You are strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit. You are the place where Christ dwells. You are rooted and grounded in love.

Here are the songs “Who You Say We Are” and

Blessings to you as you pray for your extended family today.
