I have been struggling with sleep and feeling somewhat discouraged by it. I feel tired and with that comes a myriad of emotions…quick temper, impatience, sadness, anger, and weariness to name a few. Sleep is so important on so many levels. I am sure that many of you are struggling with sleep as well. There is much to keep us preoccupied these days. Some of you are awake because you are worrying; worrying about getting the virus, worrying about your children getting the virus, worrying about the future. Some of you are awake because you are getting up to nurse a baby, or getting up with sick children, or what have you. There is much to keep us awake and not sleeping.
So, what are we to do? We are to PRAY!!! If you are one like me that is awake when you should be sleeping, praise the Lord for who He is; that He never slumbers or sleeps and is with us in the far reaches of the night. Praise the Lord for who you are in Him. Pray for one another. With that, let’s turn our attention, once again, to who God is and who you are in Him.
Who is God? He is NEVER-TIRING.
He is awake and watching. He never tires of us. He wants us to come to Him. I am confident that when we are awake at night that He longs for us to stop tossing and turning and just pray.
Who are you in Him? You are WATCHED and SAFE!
Psalm 121 describes who He is and who are you are in Him so beautifully.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
Here is the song “He Never Sleeps” by Don Moen.
Blessings to you!
