My daughter Elizabeth and her husband Mauricio are here with us at our cabin with their two year old son Lucas and newborn baby Caleb. They are doing their ‘Stay at Home’ order with us and we are so thankful that they are. I am a baby lover and have been since I was just a little girl, so to have a baby in our cabin is so precious. I was talking with Elizabeth about what to write today and she thought immediately of Psalm 8 which speaks of babies and infants praising the Lord. Read it below:
Psalm 8
O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established praise because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,
all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
As Elizabeth and I were talking, she mentioned that little Caleb cannot see very well at this point but he trusts without seeing that his needs will be met. He cries and Elizabeth, especially, responds by feeding, changing, and cuddling him. Even now, Caleb’s cries and coos are praising the Lord. It is the same with us. Even though, we can’t see the Lord Jesus, we trust Him that He will meet our needs. We cry out to Him and he responds by providing for us physically but more importantly spiritually. He is our Savior, He is our LORD. With that news, we praise Him too. So now, we turn, once again, to who God is and who we are in Him.
Who is God? He is Jesus, the LORD.
Philippians 2:9-11 describes what this means so beautifully.
“Therefore God has highly exalted Him (Jesus) and bestowed on Him (Jesus) the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father.”
Colossians 1:15-17
He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him (Jesus) all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
Who are you in Him? You are justified and saved.
Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is LORD,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
For those of you who are not believing or are waffling in your belief all you have to do what it says above :). Don’t delay!
Here is the song “The Lord is My Salvation” by Keith and Kristyn Getty.
Blessings to you!
