God is King and You in Him are Called, Chosen, and Faithful

Who is God? He is Jesus, the KING of kings

He has supreme authority over all. He has authority over everything.

Revelation 17:14 proclaims, “They will make war on the Lamb (Jesus), and the Lamb (Jesus) will conquer them, for He is Lord of lords and KING of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.”

Who are you in Him? You are called, chosen, and faithful.

You are divinely appointed, selected, and one who trusts in His promises. Praise the Lord.

On August 18, 2007 my mother went home to be with the Lord, the KING of kings, the One who is, was and is to come.   One of the most difficult and most precious parts of that evening was watching my dear mother be carried out of my family home to be prepared for her funeral and burial.  The Lord, my KING was close to my broken heart that evening and comforted me in a way that is indescribable.  Little did I know that He would appoint me to comfort a dear neighbor through this same event two years later.

II Corinthians 1:3-5 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.

In late April of 2009, I was visiting with my elderly neighbor Audre Larson who was quite ill at the time. We talked of many things, but especially  about her husband Jim.  She felt very strongly that she wasn’t going to be around much longer and she asked me if I would please keep an eye on him and pray for His salvation. I told her that I would.

As the Lord would have it, on May 9, 2009 I was up early getting a cup of coffee, looking out the window, and saw my neighbor, Jim Larson, standing alone watching Audre, his wife of 65 years be taken away after she had passed away just an hour before.  I felt compelled to run across the street and be with him and so I did.  I just held his hand and we watched together and cried.  I was able to comfort him with the same comfort that the Lord gave to me.  Only a good and wise KING would orchestrate these events. This moment bonded Jim to me and a sweet friendship ensued that eventually included our whole family.  We pretty much saw him every day for 9 years. He taught my boys to golf, he blessed our family with dinners at the Midland Hills Golf Course, he came over often for meals in our home, he came over for pizza and movie night on Fridays, he bought me flowers every week, and so much more.  He honestly was one of the kindest people that I have ever known.  Two years ago, he moved to Delaware to be near his daughter and family because he was struggling living on his own.  By God’s grace, we had the opportunity to visit him last November of 2019 and again just this past February.  Our visits were sweet and filled with lots of time to talk to each other.  Yesterday, his daughter texted and said that Jim had passed away; my sweet elderly friend was gone from this world.  His daughter felt confident that in the quiet moments of the last days that he gave his heart to the Lord.  I sure hope so.

I am so thankful that the Lord promises to work all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). Only an Almighty, Beautiful, Creator, Delivering, Eternal, Faithful, Good, Incomprehensible, Just KING would do this. He calls, He elects, and He gives faith.  Praise to the KING!

If you are unbelieving or waffling in your belief, may the Lord be pleased to call you to repentance and may you bow before the King of kings knowing that you are chosen and may He grant you faith.

  3. Pray for your spouse and children.
  4. It is Tuesday, so pray for your local church that they would be a light in this world.
