The ABC’s of God

For many years I taught a Sunday school Curriculum called ‘The ABC’s of God.’ Every week I had the opportunity to draw the children’s attention to a different attribute of who God is and what He is like. By the end of the year, they had a list of who God is alphabetically. Teaching that curriculum year in and year out was life changing for me.

Often when I am feeling worried, I will pray the ABC’s of God and He meets me every time. I have been doing that a lot lately.

During these unsettling times, I thought I would do that here. I will list the attributes here today and then focus on one each day drawing attention to a passage of scripture and a hymn and/or song of praise that has to do with that attribute.

God is:

Almighty, Awesome

Beautiful, Big

Creator

Deliverer

Eternal

Faithful

Good, Gentle

Holy, Hope

Incomprehensible

Just

King of Kings

Lord of Lords

Merciful

Never-Tiring

Omniscient, Omnipresent

Provider

Queller of Fear

Refuge

Sovereign

Trustworthy

Understanding

Victorious

Wise

eXalted

Zealous

Until tomorrow, may you all ‘be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. ‘ Romans 12:12

    Grateful to read this and recall our Father’s faithfulness from A to Z. It so helpful in fixing our minds on things above to have these memory jogs. I have been using the names of my grandchildren and the verses I chose for them to recall the certainty of God’s all-wise purposes for His neverending glory…. unshakable when I often feel shaken.
