He is Faithful and You are Secure

The ideal scenario that I have in my mind in all of us being home together day after day is one of joy and delight; all of us playing games, doing puzzles, going for family walks, hours of talking, watching movies together, and reading book upon book. I have to say that for the most part this time has been like this in some degree or another.  For this I am thankful.  These days will go down in my memory, I pray, as a gift of precious time. However, the last couple of days I have observed each of us struggling, some more than others.  I would say I am part of the ‘more’ rather than the ‘other’ :(  It’s so easy to fix our eyes on ourselves and demand our own way.

Guess what?

Even when we are faithless, God’s faithfulness does not change.  This is good news! His faithfulness does not depend on us, it’s just who He is. With that, let’s fix our hearts and minds on who God is and who we are in Him once again.

I read a wonderful devotional by John Piper and loved this quote from him:

“Those who are born again are as secure as God is faithful.”

Who is God? He is FAITHFUL

I John 1:9

If we confess our sins, He is FAITHFUL and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

I Corinthians 1:9

God is FAITHFUL, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

II Thessalonians 3:3

But the Lord is FAITHFUL; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.

Hebrew 10:23

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is FAITHFUL.

Deuteronomy 7:9

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the FAITHFUL God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Who are you in Him?  You are secure.

II Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God find their ‘yes’ in Christ Jesus.”

My grandma Jan, my mom’s mother, was one of the most godly women that I knew. She knew the promises of God and that each of them were true because of the saving work of Jesus on the cross.  She was a true Titus 2 woman.  She had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord. She knew that she was secure in Him because He was faithful.  When I came to know Jesus as my Savior, she would often end letters to me with the following verse. Philippians 1:6 “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” That good work is faith in Him. This verse promises that it is He who is carrying me and it is He that will carry me.  Wow!  There is such security in knowing this.  In Christ, this verse is true for you as well.  Here are a couple more verses that promise that you are secure in Christ.

I Corinthians 1:8-9

He will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is FAITHFUL, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 8:39

Nothing can separate you from the Love in God in Christ Jesus.

I will post two songs on God’s faithfulness in the comments:

He is Faithful and True by Steven Curtis Chapman

Great is Thy Faithfulness by Chris Rice

Looking forward to focusing on God’s goodness tomorrow.

Blessings to you.

When You Pray….

Please join in praying for yourself, spouse, and children.  It’s the 4th Thursday of the month, so pray for your spouses’s extended family…grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Also, praise the Lord for His faithfulness and that in Him you are secure.
