Who is God? He is Eternal.
He had no beginning and He will have no end.
Psalm 90:2 says, “Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God.”
Who are you in Him? You are finite.
You had a beginning and you will have an end here on earth.
Psalm 103: 15-16 says, “As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more.”
After our time on earth has ended, what happens? Life will go on either in heaven or in hell. These are not my words, they are God’s words.
John 3: 16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have ETERNAL life.”
John 5: 24 says, “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”
John 11: 25 says, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.”
When my oldest daughter, Elizabeth, was a baby, I would take her each week to visit my grandma in the nursing home. These visits were highlights for us and for my grandma. One morning, I went to visit my grandma and she was in bed, crying. Her dear nurse, Beverly, said that my grandma had been crying all morning. Beverly took Elizabeth and I went in to sit with my grandma who was nearing death. I asked her what was wrong? She said that she was afraid of dying and was wondering what the point of her life was. She was feeling the weight of her finiteness. I listened to her, held her hand, and asked her if I could pray for her. She said that I could and by God’s grace, I had the privilege of leading my grandma to saving faith in the Lord. Just a few days later, the Lord took her home to be with him. I cannot wait to see her again.
For those of you trusting in the ETERNAL God for your salvation, you have a blessed assurance. For those of you who are not trusting or are waffling, today is the day, the day appointed for your salvation!
I will leave you with a verse that I was taught when I was just a girl.
I Timothy 1: 17
“Now unto the King ETERNAL, immortal, and invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
I will post a link to the songs, “Who am I?” By Casting Crowns as well as the hymn, “Immortal, Invisible, God only Wise” sung by Steve Green.
Tomorrow we will turn our attention to God’s Faithfulness :)
When you pray…
Please join me in praying today. Pray for yourself, your spouse, and children. Today is the 4th Wednesday of the month so pray for your mother’s extended family: aunts, uncles, cousins. Pray also for God’s mercy over this broken world.
