He is Beautiful and You are Reflectors of that Beauty

Another beautiful morning where the signs of spring abound!  Thank you, Lord!!! My grandmother and mother loved to decorate for the seasons. Yesterday, I took winter down in the Haas home and put up spring.  Everything looks fresh and hopeful.  I am thankful for the change of the seasons.

Today I want to focus your attention, once again, to another attribute of who God is and who you are in Him.

Who is God?  He is BEAUTIFUL.

Who are you in Him? In Christ, you are a Reflector of that beauty.

Psalm 27 says,

The Lord is my light and my salvation;

    whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life;

    of whom shall I be afraid?

When evildoers assail me

    to eat up my flesh,

my adversaries and foes,

    it is they who stumble and fall.

Though an army encamp against me,

    my heart shall not fear;

though war arise against me,

    yet I will be confident.

One thing have I asked of the Lord,

    that will I seek after:

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord

    all the days of my life,

to gaze upon the BEAUTY OF THE LORD

    and to inquire in His temple.

For He will hide me in His shelter

    in the day of trouble;

He will conceal me under the cover of His tent;

     He will lift me high upon a rock.

And now my head shall be lifted up

    above my enemies all around me,

and I will offer in His tent

    sacrifices with shouts of joy;

I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;

    be gracious to me and answer me!

You have said, “Seek my face.”

My heart says to You,

    “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”

Hide not Your face from me.

Turn not your servant away in anger,

    O You who have been my help.

Cast me not off; forsake me not,

    O God of my salvation!

For my father and my mother have forsaken me,

    but the Lord will take me in.

Teach me Your way, O Lord,

    and lead me on a level path

    because of my enemies.

Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;

    for false witnesses have risen against me,

    and they breathe out violence.

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord

    in the land of the living!

Wait for the Lord;

    be strong, and let your heart take courage;

    wait for the Lord!

What does the BEAUTY OF THE LORD mean?

Christian apologist and speaker, Don Stewart, answers this question by saying, “The beauty of the Lord can be defined as God possessing everything in His character that is desirable. Everything that is good and righteous has its ultimate fulfillment in God.”

So, on a day like today, when there is a tangible evil in the land, I see His beauty in:

  1. Who He is. The list of attributes of who He is are inexhaustible. The ABC’s of God are a good place to start:)
  1. His promises.  All of the promises of God are ‘yes’ in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:38-39 was one of my mother’s favorite promises from scripture and it is so fitting for a time like this. It says, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
  1. The change of the seasons. The Song of Solomon 2:11-12 says, “See, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone.  The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come.”
  1. My grandsons. He knit these precious boys together in their mama’s womb and they are fearfully and wonderful made.
  1. My children. They are God’s good gifts and each of them reflect His beauty in amazing ways that bless me beyond measure.
  1. My husband.  He is my dearest friend this side of heaven. In this trial, Paul reflects the Lord’s steadfastness.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of places where I see His beauty today.  Where to you see the beauty of the Lord?  Put your pen to paper and write these down and put them in places to remind you of His beauty.

Looking forward to focusing on God is the Creator tomorrow.

Blessings to you!

I have put the link to the song, “You are Beautiful Beyond Description.”  Listen to it alone and with your family.

When you Pray….

I mentioned yesterday that I pray using a sweet system that I learned from my Aunt Sue.  Everyday I pray for myself, my husband, children, and grandchildren.  On Sundays I pray for our leaders in government. Today is the 4th Sunday of the month and I am praying for my own city’s government leaders.  Please join me in praying for yours.  They certainly need our prayers during this time.
