Good morning!
As I write, I feel the sun’s warmth, I hear the chirping of birds, I smell freshly toasted bread, I taste a deliciously warm cup of coffee, and I see evidences everywhere of spring. In the midst of this trial, I am thankful.
Sparked by my years of teaching the ABC’s of God, I look for attributes that describe who God is when reading the Bible as well as look for attributes that describe who I am in Him.
II Corinthians 1:20 says,
“For all the promises of God find their Yes in Jesus.” If you are trusting Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins and believe that He is your Savior, then every promise in scripture is yours to claim. This is good news.
Jesus beckons us to come to Him. He says, “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” By focusing your attention on these precious attributes of who God is; may you run to Him, may you trust Him, may you fall on your knees and submit to Him, may you rest in Him. He does not intend for you to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. Let Him carry it for you for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He wants you to come to Him like a little child. This morning my Gwendolyn came to me and snuggled next to me and I wrapped by arms around her and told her I loved her and told that she was such a sweet girl. Guess what? She rested there in my arms. So, now I turn your attention to the ABC’s of God.
The attribute for today is that God is ALMIGHTY. He is most powerful! He is the ruler over all! He has the whole world in His hands.
Revelation 1:8 says,
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “Who Is and Who Was and Who Is to come, the Almighty.”
Psalm 91 says,
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place the Most High, who is my refuge, no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. Because he hold fast to Me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows My name. When he calls to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”
This is good news. No matter what God is in charge. We can trust Him! He is ALMIGHTY and in His ALMIGHTY hands, you are safe.
Philippians 4:4-8 says,
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Setting your mind on the fact that God is ALMIGHTY is taking a step toward thinking about what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise.
Listen to the hymn below. Sing it alone. Sing it with your family.
Blessings to you!
When you pray…
One more thing, praying is a wonderful tool in fighting worry. I have a sweet way of praying which I learned from my dear Aunt Sue, who is now with the Lord. Each day I pray for myself, my husband, and children. On the 3rd Saturday of the month which is today, I pray for families with wayward and rebellious children. Please join me.
